Traditional vs. Waterless Urinals
Share
If you are planning to build a new men’s restroom or renovate an old one, one thing you will need to decide is what kind of urinals to use. Do you want to use traditional flush urinals or use waterless models such as those we offer here at hybridH2o? In this article, our team will go over a few key differences between these two types of urinals to help you decide.
- Water Use – Naturally, the biggest difference between traditional and waterless urinals is that traditional urinals use water to flush away urine, while waterless models rely on gravity alone. Our waterless urinals use no water at all, which will significantly reduce the total water consumption at your facility. If you want to make your facility more environmentally friendly or want to minimize your utility costs, we strongly encourage you to choose waterless urinals.
- Hygiene – Another key difference between traditional and waterless urinals has to do with hygiene. Because waterless models do not need to be flushed, there is no need for users to touch a handle or flush mechanism, which in turn minimizes the spread of germs through surface contact. If you want your men’s restroom to be as hygienic as possible, we encourage you to use waterless urinals in your facility.
- Ease of Installation – A third key difference between traditional and waterless urinals we want to highlight here is their relative ease of installation. To install a traditional urinal, plumbers need to plumb a line to supply water to the urinal, as well as a drain line to carry the water and urine away. Waterless urinals have no need for the supply line, only the drain, and are therefore simpler (and less expensive) to install.
